  • There are memorable moments when we find ourselves staring at the night sky filled with stars. One such night was on the Na Pali Coast of Kauai on my first solo 22-mile run into Kalalau Beach. I seriously underestimated the difficulty, did not take a headlamp, and ran out of daylight on my return. I made it to Hanacapiai Beach and took off my shoes to wait for dawn. The Milky Way flooded the sky with stars. The biggest moon I’ve ever seen hovered above the horizon. Awe and wonder at the cosmic perspective pierced my soul. Knowing that the light hitting my eyes left those stars billions of years ago made a powerful connection. The cosmic perspective holds the power to radically transform how we live, love, and lead our best lives.

  • The cosmic perspective doesn’t promise a perfect life. But it offers something more meaningful: clarity, awe, and the freedom to live authentically. It quiets the ego and magnifies the soul. It teaches us that while we are small in the universe, our capacity for meaning, beauty, and love is infinite. So look up. Remember where you come from. Let the stars remind you that you’re already part of something extraordinary—and that living your best life is about discovering your unique contribution in this miraculous, ever-expanding cosmos. We are not the center of the universe. But the universe lives in us through consciousness.
